The current unemployment rate among adults with autism is around 80%.  Elijah’s Retreat is addressing the lack of work experience for young adults in Rural East Texas.  The transition from high school to the professional world is difficult for all young adults but especially for autistic adults due to communication and learning barriers, transitions and social skills.  We partnered with Jacksonville ISD and Texas Workforce to create a pilot work experience program for youth with autism.
