HISTORY
Elijah’s Retreat, a haven for families touched by autism, was established in 2009 by Jeff and Kathie Moore. The impetus behind this heartfelt initiative was their grandson, Elijah, who had been diagnosed with autism. Witnessing the challenges faced by families dealing with autism, Jeff and Kathie decided to create a safe and welcoming space where these families could come together and enjoy meaningful time with their loved ones.
Tragically, Kathie Moore passed away in December of the same year, but Jeff remained steadfast in their shared vision for Elijah’s Retreat. Undeterred by the loss, he continued to expand the retreat, adding two more cabins to the original one. Through their dedication and perseverance, Jeff and Kathie Moore built more than just physical cabins; they erected a sanctuary, a haven of understanding and support for families navigating the complexities of autism.
Elijah’s Retreat stands as a testament to the Moores’ extraordinary commitment to serving others. Their unique and compassionate approach has touched the lives of numerous families, providing them with a respite from the challenges of autism. We extend our deepest gratitude to Jeff and Kathie Moore for their visionary leadership, unwavering dedication, and years of service in creating and nurturing Elijah’s Retreat—a place where families find solace, connection, and the support they need.
